I do like That Mitchell and Webb Look. Not as much as I liked That Mitchell and Webb Sound, but then the pictures are always non-existent on radio. Admittedly, my liking may be partly to do with my not-so-tiny crush on David Mitchell. I don’t find the show uniformly funny, but there are always a handful of sketches that really make me laugh out loud.

Tonight there was an excellent sketch demonstrating beautifully the problem of a mutable God by re-imagining the story from Gen 22. The God who can’t quite make up his mind, doesn’t think things through, and is easily swayed by human actions ends up not being a God at all, just David Mitchell with long white hair and a beard. I would say, go and search for it, it’ll be on Youtube, except that I also thoroughly enjoyed David Mitchell’s rant against ‘casual criminals’ who download bit-torrents of TV programmes instead of buying the DVD. So, if you’re in the UK, go and watch it quite legally on iPlayer. And if not, you can do your own Googling. Or wait, and buy the DVD.

Conversational theology:

the art of learning deep truths about God and man in the company of friends, whilst drinking tea and eating cake.
