Etiquette guru?

Following a discussion on Angie‘s blog about Jeeves’ manifold skills – not just a valet, he could buttle with the best of them – she posed the thorny question of pronunciation. My instinct is to pronounce the ‘t’ in valet and that to do otherwise is pretentious. On the other hand, I’m not often in the kind of social setting where it’s an issue.
So I thought I’d throw the question open for discussion. Anyone? Neil Jeffers?
