This is the ‘theological agony aunt’ section of the blog. If you have a question that you think I might be able to answer, feel free to ask it in the comments to this post. I’ll probably put my answers in posts on the main blog and link to them here. That way, other readers of the blog will be able to share their answers in comments on the posts and we can keep all the discussion together.
I, of course, reserve the right not to answer any question.

Hi Roz
You had replied to a post I made on the Word-press blog about what I believe to be a misleading blog. I hope this is an appropriate place to forward my question. If you google Jerry Kott , on the first page towards the bottom is a tag/listing JerryKott-blogs, pictures. I believe along with others that this is misleading. If you clicked on the tag you would discover a site which I believed was a bate and switch. This is not a blog created by me. The person who created this is a college classmate who I believe has taken liberties. I believe they are deceptive. I had mail them months ago requesting them to dissolve any and all associations THEY created on line . I recently heard back that they will. The tag still shows up when you google but if you click on it you get a message that no blog exist, When will the tag stop appearing when I google Jerry Kott? Below is a copy of the tag that appears on my first google page. Who long will that keep appearing.

Thanks for your interest in trying to resolve this mess.
Peace

I’m not an expert and you’ll get a better answer if you ask in the WP.com forum. My guess is that, if the link takes you to a non-existent blog, then the search engine is finding an older, cached version of the page. I don’t know exactly how long the caches take to clear – maybe a few weeks? But there’s nothing else you can do at this stage.
Hey Ros,
I love your website and would like to know who did it for you. You do not have to post this. You can contact me offline.
Thanks
Thanks. I did the coding myself.
Ros,
In understanding the Song of Songs, what do you think of the article by Francis Landy, “The Song of Songs and the Garden of Eden” JBL 98 (1979) 513-528?
Rob, I haven’t read the article, but I’ve read Landy’s book ‘Paradoxes of Paradise’ which I imagine says similar things. I think that the parallels between Gen 1-3 and Song of Songs are important and enlightening. I’d also recommend reading Phyllis Trible (God and the Rhetoric of Sexuality) on the same subject. I don’t agree with all of Landy or Trible’s conclusions but the literary analysis is very interesting indeed.
Did you have a specific question in mind?
Ros,
I did a Th.M. from WTS-Phila last year on the biblical theology of Wisdom Literature centering on the problem of place. The Song of Songs is just one of those controversial parts- such as, does it even belong in the WL, let alone other controversial issues on the WL such Wisdom Psalms, the nature of retribution, wisdom criteria, etc.. The Song is so complex and perhaps more studies like Hwang’s will get at more understanding. The long and short of it is that I found Landy an entry point for including the Song in the WL with a basis in the connection with creation theology. I’ll take a look at Trible, thanks.
best,
Rob
Ross,
I am wondering if you have ever had to explain SOS to young folk. I find myself in the situation, where this teenager asked me why this book is even in the Bible. It does not say anything about God even. No…? ;-)
I guess …fear… that what I have is a complicated explanation.
SOS has all sorts of cool connections with other books of the Bible – like Genesis, Exodus, Revelation.
SOS is that it is about love and relationships, something we all will have to deal with for better or worse.
SOS is aesthetically awesome… the colors … intoxicating… I am speaking as an artist now.
SOS is also aesthetically awesome in a literary way … poets and writers will dig this book perhaps more so than any other book in the Bible. … Something like that…
Incidentally…I think that one of the reasons why this book is so difficult to understand is because, its like watching all of the musical video parts of a musical, and then trying to figure out the storyline of the entire movie based on that. SOS reminds me a lot of the musical parts of Indian movies.
Ok. Anyway… if you have anything to say and have the time … no worries otherwise.
God Bless,
~ Raj Rao
